THE GEORGE LLOYD SUITE

 

The suite is comprised of Figure of Outward – for CO (homage to Charles Olson, Poet of Gloucester and author of The Maximus Poems); Male and Female – for WB (for his friend and mentor Will Barnett); Homestead Exemption (his meditation on the nature of the historic property at HOPE EDITIONS); and The Anchorite (a lithographic take on an ancient theme).

 

Unique among painters Lloyd is rooted in the Bay Area traditions of the 1950s and 60s and the art and architectural heritage of his native Boston. Earning a BFA from RISD (1967) and the MFA from Yale (1969). George moved to Berkeley to teach and found his way into a drawing group committed to the figure, members included Joan Brown, Elmer Bischoff and Gordon Cook.

The suite of four images is currently priced at $3,500 (unframed).
